Course Description

A Hands-on Educational Program for Developers to Learn DevOps Technologies.

Course Objectives

Develop a DevOps mindset of small, frequent changes, automation, and feedback.

Gain confidence reading documentation, debugging errors, and asking the right questions when things fail.

Learn to connect tools into an end‑to‑end workflow instead of seeing them as isolated technologies.

Curriculum

Week 1 | Linux

Understand what DevOps is and how Linux, Git, containers, CI/CD, and Kubernetes fit together in real delivery pipelines.

Be comfortable working on a remote Linux server, using the shell to navigate, inspect, and troubleshoot systems.

Weeks 2| Bush

Use bash scripting to automate routine tasks and prepare scripts used later in pipelines and containers.

Weeks 3 | Git/Git branching

Work effectively with Git, including branching, merging, and pull/merge requests, following a simple branching strategy.

Weeks 4 | Virtualization/Cloud

Understand virtualization and basic cloud concepts, and be able to provision and use a VM to run applications.

Week 5 | Containers

Understand containers conceptually (vs VMs) and know when and why to use them in modern architectures.

Week 6 |Docker/Podman

Build Docker/Podman images, write Dockerfiles, use volumes and networks, and run multi‑container applications.

Week 7 | CI/CD

Design and configure a simple CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests, and packages an application on each commit.

Week 8 | GitHub/ GitLab

Use GitHub or GitLab to host code, manage issues and pull requests, and implement CI pipelines with Actions or GitLab CI.

Week 9 | Kubernetes

Deploy an application to a local Kubernetes cluster, using deployments, services, and basic configuration resources.

Expose applications via Kubernetes services/Ingress and understand how to work with storage at a basic level.

Week 10 | Kubernetes Final Webinar

Use logs and basic metrics to observe and troubleshoot running applications in containers and Kubernetes.
